The international al-Qaeda terrorist organization has started a new English-language magazine, called “Inspire,” possibly with the intent to recruit American-born and UK terrorists.
The new magazine is now posted on the Internet. However, only three or four pages of its 67-page tome actually made it up to the Islamist sites that posted the publication, according to the SITE Intelligence Group that monitors jihadist web sites.
SITE reported that the magazine is being run by al-Qaeda's branch in Yemen, which is managed by American-born Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.
“Make a Bomb in the Kitchen of Your Mom – a detailed, yet short, easy-to-read manual on how to make a bomb using ingredients found in a kitchen” -- is one of the current articles listed in the magazine's table of contents.
A future article, “May Our Souls be Sacrificed for You,” is to be authored by the 39-year-old al-Awlaki.
The Muslim cleric is believed by the U.S. government to have had a “direct operational role” in the failed attempt by a Nigerian national to blow up a Northwest Airlines flight to Detroit on Christmas Day.
“This new magazine is clearly intended for the aspiring jihadist in the U.S. or UK who may be the next Fort Hood murderer or Times Square bomber,” said former CIA officer Bruce Riedel, currently a scholar at the Brookings Institute.
Internet propaganda has managed to entice at least two Americans to the cause: Bryant Neal Vinas and Najibullah Zazi, both admitted al-Qaeda terrorists, were hooked by the terrorist network in New York, but traveled to Pakistan for terrorist training.
