United States President George W. Bush has ordered the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to cease its role as a supervisor of Israeli and PA security agencies. So reported the Washington Post. The previous Clinton administration had decided that the CIA would play a watchdog role in the region, overseeing security compliance to signed agreements between Israel and the PA. In keeping with the policies of the new administration to take a more passive role in regional peace efforts, the White House has ordered an end to the practice.
