The CAMERA Middle East media watchdog organization has launched a new Hebrew-language website, PressPectiva.
The new site, which comes in addition to CAMERA's English and Spanish websites, will focus on fact-checking coverage of events by the Hebrew-language media, and will provide key information on issues frequently in the news.
“Correcting errors at the source before they spread internationally can help prevent the troubling misinformation about Israel prevalent in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and beyond,” said the organization in a statement about the new website.
PressPectiva editor-in-chief Yishai Goldflam invited the public to alert him to errors in coverage, and to write letters to newspapers, blogs and networks together with CAMERA in its advocacy work on behalf of accuracy in reporting on Israel and the Middle East.
“We hope to create a network of active letter-writers to the Hebrew media,” Goldflam said, and invited the public to register with CAMERA by sending an email to [email protected] or [email protected].
“Israeli media are, in principle, required to follow professional and ethical standards very similar to those that apply in America,” he pointed out. “See the Israel Press Council Code of Ethics.... [our] aim is to encourage adherence to those standards, which include accuracy and accountability.”
