Knesset members from the National Union toured the Old City of Jerusalem Wednesday and walked around the Temple Mount, passing between the gates to the holy site. The media presented the tour as a provocative action timed to parallel to Prime Minister Netanyahu's meetings with the US administration.
In the following video, MK Prof. Aryeh Eldad explained that the purpose of the visit was to express eternal commitment to Jerusalem, and declare the right of Jews to build in the Jewish capital.
Regarding the timing of the visit and the construction approvals publicized during the past few days, Eldad determined that those opposing the Jewish state would always use any excuse to object to the Jewish development of the Land of Israel. Jerusalem is always 'explosive', he said -- it was explosive in Biblical times as well.
