Dozens of Palestinian Authority Arabs rioted, threw rocks at Jews, and attempted to infiltrate a Jewish town in Samaria today (Saturday). Army forces arrived on the scene and dispersed the mob with tear gas and rubber bullets. Arab sources claim that one of their number was killed and another mortally injured.

In other Arab violence, Hamas terrorists from Gaza fired three more Kassam rockets this afternoon at Israel, and terrorists threw a firebomb at an Israel car not far from Modi'in, near Ben Gurion International Airport; no one was hurt in these incidents.

The rioting Arabs came from the village Arak-Burin near Shechem (Nablus), and they attacked the Jews of Har Brachah, in the Elon Moreh-Itamar bloc.

Arab sources said that the IDF used live fire, but the IDF issued a strong denial of such. The IDF stated that tear gas, and then rubber bullets, were used in accordance with regulations.

Prior to the riots, intensive contacts were held between the army and Arab elements in the Shechem district in an attempt to prevent clashes.

20 Arabs Arrested

In the Jerusalem district this afternoon, Arabs threw rocks and burned tires near the Shuafat checkpoint. The security forces dispersed them with tear gas; no one was hurt. Over 20 Arabs were arrested.
