Postal service nationwide was put on hold Monday following the discovery of two envelopes containing explosives. The envelopes were sent to a post office in Migdal Haemek, in the Lower Galilee in the north, where they aroused the suspicion of the recipient, a resident of the area.

The woman who received the envelopes called local police, who safely neutralized the explosives.

The incident is under investigation. Details of the investigation are being kept under wraps by court order.

Signs were hung outside post offices across the country saying that customers will not be given packages or registered mail at this time due to “a security problem.”

Police said they had instructed post office employees to be on the lookout for suspicious objects while sorting mail.
