TERRORISTS USED AK-47 KALASHNIKOV RIFLES
It still remains uncertain if two or three terrorists perpetrated the terror attack outside the Afula central bus station at about 11:30am. Police have confirmed that two terrorists were killed at the attack scene. It was first believed that a third terrorist fled in the area of the city marketplace but police now report, over an hour following the attack, that it appears there was not a third terrorist and the person(s) seen fleeing the scene may have been pedestrians that ran away after hearing the gunfire.
Immediately after the terrorists began spraying the area with automatic gunfire, members of the police ‘Yoav’ and ‘Gideon’ tactical units that were in the area responded, returning fire at the terrorists. Hamakim District Police Chief Dov Lutzkin stated that earlier reports that some of the victims were wounded by police return fire appear unfounded.
