The condition of Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, the former Chief Sephardic Rabbi, has improved in the last 24 hours and he has regained consciousness.
His son, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu of Tzfat, told Arutz Sheva's Hebrew service that thanks to the public's prayers for his father's health he is better, but his situation is still critical.
Earlier in the week, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu said, the doctors treating his father said that the chances that he would recover were nonexistent. “Thank G-d the prayers helped and we thank all those who prayed for the Rabbi. This is truly a visible miracle, but the Rabbi still needs much Heavenly mercy,” he summed up.
On Sunday, Rabbi Eliyahu's condition deteriorated and he was hospitalized in very serious condition in the intensive care unit of Shaarei Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem. Last Pesach, he suffered a heart attack and underwent bypass surgery. A few days later he suffered a stroke.
