A 19-year-old Arab was arrested at the Kalandia checkpoint north of Jerusalem, after a commando knife was found in his possession. Upon being interrogated, he admitted that he intended to carry out a stabbing attack against Jews.
He was transferred to police custody for further interrogation.
On Friday, a Border Police squad at the same checkpoint found a knife with a 5-centimeter (2-inch) long blade in the possession of an Arab. In that case, too, the knife was confiscated and the suspect taken to police interrogation.
On January 31, security guards at the Kalandia checkpoint fired at a truck driver speeding towards the checkpoint and whom they suspected of wanting to break through the barrier. The driver was injured in the shoulder. An investigation found that Arabs had thrown rocks at the truck and he was speeding in order to get away from them.
He suffered moderate wounds and was evacuated to Hadassah Ein Karem Hospital.
