Misezhnikov said his office would continue to develop tourist sites in the region – including building where and when necessary in order to encourage tourism.

The announcement by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu of the building freeze in Judea and Samaria last Wednesday has rallied Mks and ministers to action, with MK Danny Danon leading a protest movement within the Likud, and Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov saying that he would continue to support and encourage tourism in Judea and Samaria.

While Misezhnikov said he supports the government, telling a Holon audience Saturday that "the building freeze is a diplomatic achievement that Israel must use to its advantage in the international arena," he added that his office would continue to develop tourist sites in the region – including building where and when necessary in order to encourage tourism.

Misezhnikov said that there are four major projects that are already underway, or are planned to begin shortly: Upgrading facilities at Herodion and developing the "Akedah Path" in Gush Etzion, developing "Kasr-al Yahud" - the site near Jericho where the Jewish people crossed into the Land of Israel after the death of Moses – and improving the stalactite cave in Ariel.

In his remarks, Misezhnikov said that Yisrael Beiteinu, his party, was able to support the freeze because it does not ban construction of public buildings, like schools, and does not include new neighborhoods in Jerusalem, where, Misezhnikov said, building would continue as usual.

Meanwhile, MK Danny Danon (Likud) on Saturday night hosted a protest meeting against the government's decision. The meeting was attended by Likud Mks, local authority heads in Judea and Samaria, and Likud activists. Danon will present a campaign to fight the freeze, titled "A Real Likudnik does not fold" under pressure. At the meeting in Ra'anana, Danon said he would push for a meeting of the Likud Central Committee to discuss the freeze.
