A special bio-filter project was inaugurated in Israel. The system will be purifying rainwater through a unique technology developed in Australia by a team which included an Israeli researcher.

The objective of the project is to collect rainwater, purify it through biological means, and inject it into the aquifer. One of the first implementations of this unique technology will be in the city of Kfar Saba, thanks to a special cooperation arrangement between JNF Australia and JNF Israel. Presently the precious rainwater washing the city streets is not collected and therefore either evaporates or flows to the sea and is lost. This revolutionary project is expected to provide a remedy for this problem.

The Water Minister of South Wales, who participated in the inauguration event, told the participants that the nation of Israel, as he has learned during the visit, "is strongly connected to the land". The minister headed a 30-member Australian delegation, which included representatives of the Sydney Municipal Water Authority, the national research authority of Australia, leading universities, and private companies in the field of water and the environment.
