The commander of Kfir Regiment, Col. Oren Abman, presided over the military trial of two soldiers from the regiment's Nachshon Battalion who had put up a sign against the IDF's demolition of Jewish outposts.

Abman found the two guilty of  refusing an order and disgraceful conduct. He sentenced them to thirty days in jail. In addition, they will not be allowed to become commanders and will be demoted. The IDF Spokesman added that “the IDF views with severity political demonstrations inside the military system, involving damage to discipline and sees them as disgraceful behavior. This action damages the strength and solidarity of a fighting unit.”

Following the sentences, nationalist activist Baruch Marzel said that “the way that the IDF is dealing with the real pain felt by soldiers on the ground is totally misguided.”

"Instead of sending the soldiers to jail, [Defense Minister Ehud] Barak would do better to stop involving the IDF in a political dispute,” he said. “The punishment will not deter the soldiers from refusing to evict children.”
