Police raised the level of alert in the Sharon area (the coastal region between Herzliya and Mount Carmel) Wednesday afternoon, following intelligence of a terrorist infiltration.

Roadblocks were set up at the entrances to cities and on major roads, and police combed various areas.

Large traffic jams were caused in different routes, including Highway 6 near the Kessem Interchange. Magen David Adom doubled the number of ambulances in the Sharon region.

At about 4:30 pm, the level of alert was reduced in most areas but security forces reportedly closed in on one Arab town where the terrorist was believed to be and were effectively besieging it.
