Professor MK Aryeh Eldad (National Union) said Monday that there is no place for apologies by the Right regarding the Yaakov Teitel case.

"I am an expert on plastic surgery, not on psychiatry, [which] should be the main focus here,” the former commander of IDF Medical Corps told Arutz Sheva.

Israel's political Right as a whole is blamed for the actions of violent individuals, he says, but in this case there is clearly no room for such accusations, as the alleged perpetrator was not raised in Israel. “The Right immediately apologizes and the Left says [the murderer] grew in the Right's garden, but I do not know the address in Florida or Texas where he was educated. Therefore I refuse to apologize."

"He is a nut. There is no need for any further discussion about anyone who talks about the Black Bear or the Red Hand,” Eldad stated, referring to leaflets that Teitel allegedly wrote, in which he praised “the Black Bear” for killing young people at a Tel Aviv club. Teitel originally confessed to the Tel Aviv murders as well as to other crimes, but later retracted his confession, and is not considered a suspect at this time.

Eldad voiced support for a call by HaTikva faction spokesman Dr. Ron Breiman, for establishing a committee of inquiry to re-examine the assassination of Yitzchak Rabin. He said that he himself is “allergic to conspiracy theories” but despite this, he thinks a committee of inquiry should be formed in the matter of the Rabin murder, in order to put conspiracy theories surrounding the case to rest.

The committee, he said, should look into “gaps in timetables, the problematic chest X-ray, contradictory testimony” and more. "Maybe if they explain these things, the conspiracy theory will be uprooted,” he said.
