The fatal crash of Captain Assaf Ramon last month was most likely caused by the “human factor,” a military committee of inquiry has established, according to Channel 10. Ramon apparently lost consciousness and then crashed.
The committee concluded that there was no evidence of a technical malfunction that could have caused the crash of Ramon's F-16, which crashed into the mountains south of Hevron in Yehudah (Judea) during a training exercise.
The conclusions are included in an interim report handed in by the committee, which was appointed by the IAF Commander and is headed by a colonel.
Assaf Ramon was the son of Col. Ilan Ramon, the first Israeli astronaut, who perished aboard the NASA Space Shuttle Columbia in 2003.
