Three days in a row was too much for the army, and it finally took drastic action. The residents of Tekoa, Nokdim, and Eldad, in eastern Gush Etzion (south of Jerusalem), arrived this morning for their third consecutive day of blockades and protests against the re-opening of their main access road to Arab traffic. The road was closed to Arabs two months ago, following the murder of young mother Sarit Amrani by Palestinian drive-by terrorists. In honor of Ramadan, however, the government ordered it re-opened - and the residents fear that this will only increase their lack of security. In response to the ongoing civilian blockades, the army declared the area a closed military zone this morning, removed the residents, and allowed the Arabs to drive through.
