A family mourning its father and husband in the Galilee learned that his credit card was stolen from the scene before emergency crews arrived, and was used in an Arab village.
In a traffic accident on October 13, an Arab driver from Kfar Manda in the Galilee lost control of his car and crashed into another car, driven by Kobi Hart of Tal-El, east of Acco. Both drivers were killed, and Kobi’s teen-age son was seriously injured.
Soon afterwards, Hart’s family found that Kobi’s credit card was missing – and that, very soon after the accident, it was used in the nearby Arab village of Judida to purchase air conditioners and other expensive equipment. The information was provided by the credit card company, and the family filed a complaint with the police.
The card was apparently taken from Kobi’s pocket to be used in the Arab village even before the emergency crews reached the scene of the accident to treat the victims.
The news was reported by the HNN news site, which specializes, inter alia, in reporting on traffic accidents in Israel. The site reports that 298 people have been killed on the roads in the year 2009.
The Green Light Association, whose goal is to improve the “driving culture in Israel,” reported last year that traffic fatalities in the Arab sector are nearly twice as high, proportionately, than in the Jewish sector.
