Six members of the same family – the Oshrenko family of Rishon LeTzion – were found dead in their apartment Saturday. They had all been stabbed to death and the apartment was set on fire.

Edward Oshrenko reportedly owned several successful clubs that are frequented by Russian-immigrant Israelis.

The slain victims are the grandparents Edward and Ludmilla, their son Dmitri and his wife Tatiana, and the two grandchildren, three year old Revital and four month old Netanel.

One theory that has been floated is that the murder was carried out by a person from outside the family, who tried to set the apartment on fire in order to destroy evidence. The knife used for the murder was not found in initial searches.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke over the phone with Public Security Minister Yitzchak Aharonovich and asked him to update him on the investigation. He also spoke with Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov, who is a longtime friend of the Oshrenko family.
