Susan Rice, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, is set to arrive in Israel next week to address a conference hosted by President Shimon Peres.

Rice's speech to the conference is expected to cover U.S. foreign policy in general and will not be specifically devoted to the Middle East, according to the official.

Rice will also meet Israeli and Palestinian Authority officials during her three-day visit to the region, according an American official who spoke on condition of anonymity on Thursday.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas will meet with the American ambassador some time during her visit, according to a report broadcast by the ABC news network. The report was not immediately confirmed.

The U.S. has kept the pressure on, with American officials visiting Jerusalem nearly every week since President Barack Obama's talks last month with Netanyahu and Abbas. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was also ordered by the president to report back to him by mid-October with an update on progress in talks between Israel and the PA.
