National Union Chairman Yaakov Katz (Ketzaleh) blasted Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Friday for approving the release of female terrorists in return for a videotape of IDF hostage Gilad Shalit -- a deal he called "humiliating" for Israel.
Katz accused the Prime Minister of making self-serving decisions. "I, too, would like to see Gilad Shalit," he explained, "just as I would like to see all of my fallen brothers-in-arms rise to life, just as I would like to see my leg [which was partially blown off in the Yom Kippur War – ed.] come back to life, but one must look at long term cost versus benefit. And here we have a person who makes decisions according to what the media will write about him."
"If we really had a leader here, with values, who makes decisions based on what is good for the Nation of Israel I would be silent," he said. "But Netanyahu is not trustworthy and not faithful – not to his nation, not to his friends, and not to Gilad Shalit."
'Dustrag'
The previous prime minister, Ehud Olmert, at least knew better than to pay Hamas for a sign of life, Ketzaleh said. "Olmert was ten times more serious than Netanyahu and he had the ability to make decisions, and all of the officers in the IDF know today that Netanyahu is weak and that he cannot make decisions."
Netanyahu, he said, "in his essence behaves like a spineless wimp [Ketzaleh used the word smartoot, which literally means 'dustrag' -- ed.]. He is a weak man – weak of character – who knows how to talk well, has nice hairdo and a deep voice, but that is all."
