Gaza terrorists opened fire on Israeli civilian engineers Monday morning near the fuel terminal at the Nahal Oz crossing. The intended victims, who were repairing the Gaza security barrier, were unhurt.

IDF soldiers responded by returning fire at the sources of the attack. No casualties were reported.

Several similar attacks on Nahal Oz have been reported in recent months. Terrorists fired on workers performing Defense Ministry engineering assignments 11 days ago; no injuries were reported. Israelis at other Gaza crossings have come under fire as well.

Several hours prior to Monday's attack, IDF planes destroyed three weapons smuggling tunnels between Gaza and Egypt.

The strike came in response to rocket fire on Israeli towns one day earlier. Terrorists fired on the Gaza Belt city of Sderot during the course of the Rosh HaShanah holiday, sending residents racing for cover in the middle of the night. No physical injuries were reported.

On Sunday, a group of Gaza terrorists attempted to plant bombs along the Gaza security barrier, opposite the town of Kfar Aza. After firing warning shots, soldiers shot directly at the group, killing two of the terrorists and wounding four others.
