A young mother who had been hospitalized for nearly four years, ever since she was wounded in a terrorist attack in the city of Hadera, just south of the Galilee, has died of her wounds on the eve of the New Year.

The woman, Larissa Grischenko, was 39 at the time of her death, after having been in a coma ever since the attack. She is survived by her husband and three children aged 6,7 and 15; the younger two barely ever knew her.

The attack occurred in the afternoon hours of Oct. 26, 2005, shortly after Hassan Abu Ziyad, 20, arrived in the outdoor market of Hadera. Wearing a vest fitted with five kilograms of explosives, the Islamic Jihad terrorist blew himself up near one of the vegetable stands.

In addition to Larissa, six others were killed in the slaughter:  Yaakov Rachmani – who was filling in for the owner of the vegetable stand - and Michael Koifman, both 68 from Hadera; Sabiha Nissim, 66, from Moshav Achituv; Pirhiya Mahluf, 53, of Hadera; and Jamal Kaadan, 48, from Baka al-Garbiye. Genya Polis, 66, died of her wounds ten days later.

Fahri Mansour, an Israeli-Arab who drove the terrorist to his final destination, is serving a 17-year sentence after his conviction last year of aiding the enemy during war time and of being an accomplice to murder.

A total of 58 people were murdered during the year 2005 by Palestinian Authority terrorists, including 23 after the Disengagement from Gaza and northern Shomron in August.
