
Mayors from across the country gathered in Jerusalem on Monday to protest planned budget cuts. Ron Nachman, the mayor of Ariel, accused the government of breaking promises to local authorities. If the government fails to follow through with promised funding, cities nationwide will not be able to provide the services that their residents expect, he warned.
Shlomo Lahiani, the mayor of Bat Yam, accused the government of hurting the “periphery” - towns in Israel's north and south.
