Finance Ministry officials are meeting with labor union leaders in an effort to bring an end to the strikes that have been plaguing the country. Marathon negotiations were held all night, and both sides say this morning that much progress was made towards an agreement. At present, the Labor and Welfare Ministry, Israel’s senior university lecturers, and the Land Registry offices are still on strike. Fire and Rescue Services are staging a partial strike with limited. Last night, Ben Gurion Internation Airport opened up after a full day of closure to most outgoing and incoming planes.



If the Histadrut and the Treasury fail to reach an agreement by December 21, Israel may face a strike of the entire public sector including Bezeq phone company and and El Al airlines.
