PA Ambulance Causes Crash
A PA ambulance driver caused injury on Monday afternoon when his reckless driving forced an Israeli driver from the road near the town of Beit El. The driver crashed and was trapped in the vehicle along with a passenger.
Israeli paramedics who arrived at the scene initially thought the passenger's wounds were critical and called for an airlift to a hospital. However, once the two were freed from the vehicle, it became clear that the woman's injuries were less critical than previously assumed. Both of the wounded were taken to a hospital in moderate condition.
An initial investigation showed that the ambulance driver who forced the two off the road was driving as if responding to an emergency; however, the ambulance was not transporting patients or responding to a call for help at the time.
The accident took place less than 24 hours after three Israeli citizens were killed in a car crash in northern Samaria. An Israeli-Arab mother, her two daughters, and a PA Arab couple related to the three were killed instantly on Sunday night when a PA Arab taxi driver crashed into their vehicle head-on outside the city of Jenin.
The three Israeli victims were in the area to visit family during the Ramadan holiday.
