Gershon Mesika, head of the Samaria Regional Council, decided not to attend the meeting between heads of Judea and Samaria councils and Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

Mesika fumed: "I see what the results are as they've been presented in the media: Barak stated that the outposts will be uprooted. For this they needed to meet him? For him to say that there will be more evacuations?"

"In my opinion it's a politically sold-out game," he went on. "The defense minister wants to present a display of dialogue, but he pre-determined the results of the meeting. And so, I have nothing to do at this fake display of dialogue. Only two days ago, Defense Minister Barak issued demolition orders for structures in Yitzhar, and Chavat Gilad. He is not going towards dialogue, he's determined and just needs to show the public that he's negotiating – and that's why I didn't go."
