Muslim clients of cell phone provider Orange-Partner are enjoying a special offer for the month of Ramadan – and some Jewish clients have decided to enjoy the savings too. According to 'Jameel' at the Muqata blog, the deal is a “super secret” offer intended for the Arab sector -- but it can be used by anyone who happens to find out about it.

Once Jews found out about the deal, they too began applying for the special rates. According to David Ha'Ivri of the Shomron Liaison office, several of his acquaintances have taken advantage of the offer. “They see this as a positive form of multiculturalism,” he explained.

'Jameel' explained that “If you send the text message 'ramadan' to 999 by SMS, you're eligible for 2000 free minutes between the nighttime (Ramadan party hours) hours of 9:30 PM and 5:00 AM.”

“Based on the hours my kids have been keeping this summer, this should save us a lot of money,” he added.

He noted, however, that the 2,000 free minutes are only given for calls within the Orange network.

According to News 1, Orange has another special offer for Arabs: if you're an Arab man or woman and newly engaged, you're entitled to a package of 1,500 talk minutes per month, at 9 agorot a minute.
