American and European pressure on Israel to dismantle dozens of so-called illegal outposts is “unacceptable,” Minister of Science and Technology Daniel Hershkowitz said Monday. “It would be unacceptable for the state of Israel to advise the Americans where to settle their people... it is unacceptable for other states to advise us” as to where Jews can and cannot live, he said.

Hershkowitz explained that the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria that are termed “illegal” were actually built in cooperation with the government. They are unauthorized “due to some technical approvals,” but their builders did not violate the law in any way, he said.
