Terrorists in northern Gaza fired a mortar shell on the western Negev Tuesday, a day after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu warned that Israel would respond to any and all attacks in the region. The mortar shell hit the Eshkol region. No injuries or damage were reported in the attack.

Chaim Yellin, head of the Eshkol Regional Council, expressed concern over recent attacks. “We cannot allow this trickle of mortar shells to become a flood,” he warned. Yellin noted that recent attacks remain far less frequent than the attacks targeting Gaza belt civilians prior to the IDF counterterror offensive Cast Lead.

On Monday night, Gaza terrorists opened fire on soldiers near the Karni crossing. The soldiers were providing security for workers doing repairs in the area. Soldiers returned fire. No injuries were reported on either side.

Earlier Monday, Gaza terrorists fired a mortar shell at workers near the Gaza security fence at Kissufim. The shell landed within Gaza, and no injuries were reported.

Prior to the Monday afternoon attacks, Netanyahu told former Jewish residents of Gaza, “We will not put up with rocket fire on our towns... Not a drizzle, not a trickle, not a single attack.” Netanyahu pointed to an IAF strike on Sunday, which followed rocket and mortar shell attacks earlier in the day, as an example of his zero tolerance policy.
