Special police forces and IDF officers ordered an immediate halt on construction in the town of Chavat Gilad Wednesday. No official explanation has been given even to the residents affected by the orders. "They were very rude... they were like mobsters instead of like agents of the law," Chavat Gilad resident Itai Zar said.
Land of Israel activists say that the Israeli government is beginning to act on its promises to the U.S. and other governments to crack down on "illegal" Jewish outposts, and that this action could mark the start of a wave of evictions in Judea and Samaria.
