Brooklyn, New York Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner will marry outside the Jewish religion to Huma Abedin, a Muslim woman who is considered one of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s top aides, the New York Daily News reported.

The intermarriage rate in the United States is estimated to be approximately 50 percent and has been one of the strongest forces that has diluted Jewish identity and support of a strong Israel.

Representative Weiner introduced in Congress in 2007 the Saudi Arabia Accountability Act, designed to “halt Saudi support for institutions that fund, train, incite, encourage, or in any other way aid and abet terrorism, and to secure full Saudi cooperation in the investigation of terrorist incidents...”

In 2006, he tried to ban the PA delegation from entering the United Nations, stating that the reason the PA is not an official representative of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) is to avoid the parent group's label as an outlawed terrorist organization.

Rep. Weiner is considered a “defender of Israel” and is a supporter of the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) but has not recently taken a strong stand in favor of a Jewish presence in Judea and Samaria.

He said that U.S. President Barack Obama went “too far" in opposing building for Jewish “natural growth” in Judea and Samaria. Secretary Clinton has adamantly argued against construction for Jews in the communities, including the 300,000 already living in there. The State Department also has referred to the 250,000 in several Jerusalem neighborhoods as living in “settlements” and has included them in the proposed ban on construction.

However, Rep. Weiner also justified the president’s position. "President Obama said that part of his mission was to speak the truth to friends," he said. "Well I think that I'm doing that with President Obama--being truthful in saying that he got it wrong when he went as far as he did on settlements. That doesn't mean that I don't support him and that he's not a friend to Israel.”

He also said that he thinks President Obama’s stand against a Jewish presence in Judea and Samaria is designed to help PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. “It's my view they are doing this to prop up Abbas, to give him a victory, to give him the opportunity to say, 'I got more out of Americans than any leader of the Palestinians has ever gotten. I think it's a hollow effort because I don't think that Mahmoud Abbas can win an election, but I think that's what it was about.”

It is not known if Rep. Weiner’s view will be influenced by Abedin, who grew up in Saudi Arabia and is considered a “conservative.” Little is known about her personal life except that her family re-located to Saudi Arabia from Michigan when she was two years old and that she returned to the United States to attend university. Her mother, a Pakistani, is a widely known professor in Saudi Arabia. Her father, who died when she was young, was an Indian and founded an institute for interfaith understanding.

She has been described as Secretary Clinton’s “secret weapon,” organizing and coordinating her trips. She began her career as an intern for Clinton when her husband was president and was her personal advisor during her senatorial campaign in New York in 2000.

The New York Observer quoted Rep. Weiner two years as saying about Abedin, “I think there’s some dispute as to whether Huma’s actually human or not.”

Assistant Secretary of State Dina Habib Powell, who was born in Cairo, told the Observer, “[Abedin] certainly feels a deep responsibility to encourage more mutual understanding between her beliefs and culture and American culture. I think you will see Huma coming out of that role in the background.”

“I think she’s going to emerge as a woman to watch.”
