Six people were killed Friday on Highway 38 near Beit Shemesh in a particularly tragic car crash. Three people were moderately injured. The dead include three young adults aged 16 to 20, who were in a BMW vehicle, and three elderly people aged 63 to 86 who were in a Subaru.
The crash occurred when the BMW veered out of its lane. Police believe that the driver was speeding.
The three killed in the BMW were the driver, Assaf Maimon, a 20 year old soldier; Moshe Ilouz, a 19 year old soldier; and Shir Malka, a 16 year old girl, all from Beit Shemesh. Netanel Edri, 20, and Eliyahu Atias, 16, were moderately wounded.
Those killed in the Subaru were Aharon Strobolsky, 62, who drove the vehicle, his mother Rachel Strobolsky, 86, and Olga Rabinovich, 73, all from Kiryat Ono. Aharon’s wife Anna was moderately wounded. They were on their way to see a concert.
Aharon Strobolsky was an immigrant from Lithuania who worked as an electronics engineer in the Israel Aerospace Industries. Rachel Strobolsky taught English.
