MK Yaakov (Ketzaleh) Katz called Monday for Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria (Yesha) and Jerusalem to build apartments and have children in response to a building freeze in the area. “We must prove to the United States and to [U.S. President] Obama that 'The more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and the more they spread,'” he said, quoting the first chapter of Shemot (Exodus).
"If each family has one more child, we will have another 40,000 to 50,000 children in Judea and Samaria,” he said.
Having more children is a fitting response to restrictions on “natural growth” in Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, he explained.
Ketzaleh also called for Jews in Judea and Samaria to circumvent the housing freeze by building upwards or adding a storage unit to their house. Both can be done without seeking special government permission, he said, and the resulting space can be rented out to families seeking housing in the area.
He asked council heads in the area to approve all requests to add space to existing houses.
"We need houses,” he said. “Bibi [Netanyahu] is not only not building in Judea and Samaria, he isn't building anywhere else in Israeli either... He is constantly engaged in survival efforts, he will busy himself with betraying and violating his promises, while we busy ourselves with building and having children.”
"With God's help, this year we will double the number of Jews living in Judea and Samaria,” he concluded.
