Three residents of the Samaria outpost Shvut Ami filed a civil suit Thursday over the confiscation of their personal belongings. The plaintiffs say soldiers took their personal belongings more than two weeks ago while destroying the outpost, and have not returned them since.

The alleged incident took place on May 25, when soldiers and police demolished Shvut Ami, near Kedumim. Residents say security forces took mattresses, clothing, tefillin, food, books and other items belonging to local Jews during the demolition.

Since then, those whose belongings were taken have repeatedly requested that their things be returned. The army has ignored their requests, they say.

The three plaintiffs are demanding NIS 15,000, although they assess the value of the property lost as being significantly higher.

The three say the soldiers who took their belongings appeared to be untrained for a destruction, and did not know what to do with the items.

Activists from the Land of Israel Loyalists announced plans to establish Shvut Ami and four other new towns in 2007, during the Sukkot holiday. Residents of Shvut Ami have been forcibly evicted dozens of times, but continue to return and rebuild the area.
