Minister of Science and Technology Daniel Hershkowitz met this week with Jews who were expelled from Gaza to hear what he and his fellow ministers can do to ease their plight. Following the passage of a national budget, Hershkowitz plans to lead a ministerial committee aimed at assisting the expellees. The committee “won't give these people back their past, but at least will help them to start their new lives,” he said.

According to recent studies, only 50 Jewish families from Gaza are living in permanent housing almost four years after the 2005 “Disengagement.” Many communities are still under construction; even more lack even basic infrastructure in the areas in which they are to live.
