Lieutenant Aharon Karov addressed the crowd at a memorial ceremony for fallen IDF soldiers and victims of terrorism. Karov, who was critically wounded in Operation Cast Lead in Gaza, issued a call for unity, saying, “Beyond all the differences and disagreements, we are brothers.”

Karov made headlines nationwide when he was wounded after returning to battle less than a week after his wedding. “All sectors of the populace prayed for my wellbeing,” he said.

Within weeks of his injury, Karov was able to communicate through writing and put on tefillin. He is now able to speak clearly. Doctors have described the young man's recovery as miraculous.

The memorial ceremony at which Karov spoke was held in the Jerusalem Convention Center (Binyanei Ha'umah), and was sponsored by Zocherim, an organization that documents and commemorates terrorist attacks worldwide.
