The Air Force targeted and demolished a building in central Gaza on Thursday evening. IDF sources explained that the building was filled with hundreds of kilograms of explosives, which were destroyed in the strike.
The building was located in central Gaza, near the security barrier.
Hamas spokesmen and local doctors both stated that there were no casualties in the blast.
On Wednesday evening, Gaza terrorists fired a rocket at southern Israel, breaking several days of relative quiet. The rocket hit an open area in the Eshkol region; no injuries or damage were reported.
Thursday's strike took place as IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi met in Tel Aviv with United Sates envoy George Mitchell, who is in the country to promote negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
Mitchell made it clear on Thursday that the U.S. sees the creation of a PA-led Arab state in Judea, Samaria and Gaza as the only solution to the constant friction between the PA Arabs and Israel.
