After two weeks of relative quiet, Gaza terrorists fired a Kassam rocket at Jewish communities in the Eshkol region during the final day of the Passover holiday, on Wednesday afternoon. The rocket exploded near the security fence. The attack came a short while before U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell's arrival in Israel.

There were no injuries or damage reported.

Gaza terrorists launched an attack on southern Israel two weeks ago as well, wounding one woman and a young girl at the time.

As the holiday drew to a close in Israel, Sephardic Jews began gathering Wednesday evening to celebrate the Mimuna celebration, a Moroccan-Jewish ethnic celebration in which leavened products are eaten.

Rabbis and public officials from all over Israel are expected to attend a public Mimuna celebration in the Gaza Belt city of Sderot, situated in the crosshairs of terrorist rocket attacks. Sderot mayor David Buskila and Tel Aviv Chief Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau, who was once the Chief Rabbi of Israel, are slated to address the crowds.
