
"M,” a Druze resident of the Golan, dreamed of helping his fellow villagers through a new social program. Instead, M. is in hiding, forced to conceal his identity from his former neighbors, who have pressured him and even threatened his life. His “crime”-- taking on Israeli citizenship.

Ironically, one of the groups responsible for the pressure against M. and those like him is recognized by Israel. The “Golan organization for Arab towns” is an official Israeli not-for-profit group, but expresses openly pro-Syrian views and lists its goal as fighting “the Israeli occupation in the Golan Heights.”
In the above video, “M” describes his struggle and the pressure on Golan Druze to identify as Syrian. He also explains his plan to fight back against the group that made him a target for hate.
