Hamas terrorists in Israeli jails have threatened to stage a rebellion over plans to worsen their prison terms in response to the continued captivity of kidnapped Israeli Gilad Shalit. The government is planning cutbacks in the prisoners' family visits, academic studies and television privileges.

Deputy Prison Commissioner Chaim Glick believes the government must go through with its plans despite prisoners' threats. “They always want more, and the government wants less. Therefore the threat is not relevant,” he said.
The Prison Services is capable of dealing with any riots, he said.
