Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Thursday that Israel will hit terrorists “near and far,” and warned enemies, “there is no place that Israel can't reach.” The statement was seen as a reference to an alleged IAF strike in Sudan.

Israel strikes terrorists “in the north and in the south... There's no need to mention details; people can use their imaginations,” Olmert added. Those who need to know details of Israeli strikes are well informed, he added.

Earlier Thursday Sudanese officials confirmed that unidentified planes had hit a weapons smuggling convoy, killing almost every member of the convoy.

American news network CBS attributed the strike to Israel, and said the smuggling convoy had been bringing weapons to Hamas in Gaza.

Israeli officials refused to confirm or deny rumors of Israel's involvement in the strike.
