Israeli planes bombed smuggling tunnels along the Philadelphi Corridor on Thursday in response to rocket attacks on southern Israel earlier in the day.

Residents of Gaza reported that at least three missiles were fired at the tunnels, which are often used to smuggle weapons and raw materials for the production of rockets. No casualties were reported.

One of the two rockets fired from Gaza on Thursday morning damaged two homes in the city of Sderot. The other hit the Shaar HaNegev region.

Several residents of Sderot were treated for shock following the rocket strike. No other injuries were reported.

Gaza terrorists fired rockets at Sderot on Wednesday morning as well. Israel responded by demolishing seven smuggling tunnels in southern Gaza.

Israel has limited its responses to Gaza rocket attacks since the end of the Cast Lead counterterrorist operation in Gaza last month. Israeli leaders have expressed interest in a temporary ceasefire with Hamas; however, Hamas terrorists have rejected Israel's demand to stop weapons smuggling during the ceasefire.

While Hamas has refused to halt its attacks or stop weapons smuggling despite the operation, the group has won a greater degree of recognition in Europe, where several senior diplomats recently began promoting a joint Hamas-Fatah Palestinian Authority that would negotiate with Israel. Hamas and Fatah representatives are meeting in Egypt to discuss the formation of a unity PA.
