The American Consul-General in Israel met with the parents of the five Israeli youths imprisoned in New York for immigration violations. The parents later said that he agreed to intervene on their sons\' behalf. The five were originally arrested on terrorism anti-U.S. terrorism charges, but were later kept in detention after it was discovered that they had overstayed their visas. They were kept in a maximum-security facility for about six weeks.
