Voting has been underway since Saturday night for members of the Israeli military serving at bases in Israel, on ships at sea, and abroad. Soldiers serving on Mount Hermon are scheduled to vote on Monday in advance of stormy weather forecast for Tuesday.

On Saturday night the IDF opened the first polling station in an unnamed Air Force base, for soldiers leaving Israel to carry out unspecified military assignments abroad. At 8 a.m. Sunday, the Border Police opened three polling stations: one in the North, one in the central coastal area, and one in the South. At least 415 border police officers cast their votes Sunday.

Reservists who have been called and will not be able to vote at their designated polling stations on Tuesday were also permitted to vote Sunday. Some 700 polling stations will be set up at military bases, and some will open on Monday. Soldiers at smaller bases will vote at traveling polling stations. All Border Police forces serving in Judea and Samaria are scheduled to vote on Monday, because they will be deployed in force on Election Day to guard against Arab attacks.

The soldiers' votes will be counted on Tuesday night along with the ballots of diplomats abroad, prisoners, and patients in hospital. Government employees in embassies and consulates around the world have already voted.

A total of 5,278,985 citizens aged 18 and older are eligible to vote.
