Israel missed an opportunity to free Jonathan Pollard before the end of former United States President George Bush's term, according to activist Eli Yosef. However, Israel can still free Pollard by making an emotional appeal to U.S. Leaders, he adds.

Israelis continue to use the same tactics to obtain Pollard's release to no avail, says Yosef, but doing the same thing will only lead to the same results. Instead, Israel must refuse to address any subject but that of Pollard's release, and must explain that "the time has come for compassion."
A new Facebook group has been opened by a Pollard activist calling for pressuring the Israeli government to make public statements demanding Pollard's release from U.S. prison.
Pollard has been in prison for nearly 24 years for passing classified information to Israel.
