The Israeli Air Force Tuesday struck a mortar launching cell in Gaza after it tried to attack Israel with eight mortar shells during the day, in another violation of Hamas's promise to allow the IDF seven days to withdraw from Gaza as a condition for continuation in their halt of attacks.
Most, if not all, of the mortars landed within the Gaza area where Arabs reside.
Earlier in the day, terrorists shot at army patrols in central Gaza and at the Gaza separation barrier, causing no injuries. The government denied reports that a mortar shell hit a kibbutz Tuesday morning, but members of the farm cooperative said that a mortar or rocket may have landed without exploding or may have exploded in a distant field.
However, the mortar shelling the afternoon left no doubt that southern Israel still is subject to attacks and that Hamas will remind Israel it has weapons.
The IDF, acting on Cabinet orders to retaliate immediately if there are attacks, knocked out the mortar launching cell with an aerial strike in central Gaza.
The following video shows an Arab terrorist, not in Israel, firing two mortar shells until he is eliminated as he prepares to launch a third shell.
