The Knesset recently approved the first reading of legislation that would restrict TV commercials during hours when children are likely to be watching. The law, proposed by Meretz MK Mossi Raz, stipulates that during these hours, commercials and previews promoting violence, sex, or dangerous drug use, must not be shown. Tuli Pikarsh of HaTzofeh reports that in Holland, no commercials are allowed during children\'s programming; in Belgium, commercials are banned before and after such programming; and in Greece and some Scandinavian countries, commercials directed at children are forbidden.
