The Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation will soon mint a medal in memory of the assassinated Tourism Minister Rehavam (\"Gandhi\") Ze\'evi. Public events will be held this Sunday to mark the 30th day after the murder, where former Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, the late Minister\'s elder son Palmach Ze\'evi, and Gandhi\'s personal friend Rabbi Uri Zohar, will speak.

Although the funeral and 7th-day ceremonies for public figures are state ceremonies, those marking the 30th are generally arranged privately by the family. In this case, however, Ze\'evi\'s party colleague and successor in the Tourism Ministry, Benny Elon, made a special request - in the name of the Ze\'evi family - that the 30th-day ceremony be public. Participating bodies will include the Tourism Ministry; the IDF, where Gandhi served for some 40 years, reaching the rank of Maj.-Gen. and O.C. Central Command; and even the Education Ministry, which has prepared a special kit of materials to be taught for one hour in the country\'s public schools on that day.

Two other decisions made by the Ministerial Committee for Symbols and Ceremonies last night: The central theme of the coming Independence Day celebrations several months from now will be \"Children of Israel.\" In addition, a series of events will be held three months from now to mark ten years since the death of Menachem Begin.
