Though the heroic story of Sandra Samuel, the Indian nanny who saved Moshe Holtzberg from the hands of terrorists in his parents Mumbai Chabad house, has circulated around the world, the Holtzberg's Muslim cook Zakir Hussain remains in hiding on the advice of investigators.

23-year-old Hussain, known by the nickname "Jackie", learned to make kosher food for dozens of Jews each week at the Nariman House, according to the Indian news website, Indian Express. Jackie found himself under attack by Muslim jihadists along with his Jewish employers, Gavriel and Rivka Holtzberg, on November 26.

According to Jackie, the Holtzbergs' last meal included chicken, bread, mixed vegetables, and spaghetti, which he served to the family before joining Sandra Samuel for a rest on the ground floor. Following the meal, he and Sandra went to the kitchen to return leftovers when an explosion erupted and shots rang out in the building.

Jackie and Sandra hid between two refrigerators for 13 hours, until while trying to sneak out, they heard two-year-old Moshe Holtzberg, the couple's youngest son, crying.

I want to continue working there in memory of my saheb and madam who gave me so much.”

“We came out of the storeroom at 11:00 a.m. and saw the destruction, slowly making our way through the broken glass and pieces of concrete," Jackie told Indian Express.  "We were near the stairs when we heard Moshe’s cries. Sandra and I then went up to the second floor. While she went in and picked up the baby from the room, I stood near the stairs.”

Having snatched the boy, the two Chabad House employees fled to safety. Ultimately, Jackie was the one to identify the bodies of the hostages after the siege on Nariman House ended in tragedy.

Jackie developed a deep gratitude and close connection to Rabbi Gavriel and Rivka, whom he refers to as "Saheb and Madame," saying the young couple "taught me so much."

The young cook, who is still recovering from his nightmarish ordeal, nonetheless wants to continue cooking for Jews at the Mumbai Chabad House after the center is rebuilt.  "I am just waiting for the Chabad center to be rebuilt. I will go back and work. I want to continue working there in memory of my Saheb and Madame who gave me so much,” he said.
