Gaza does not need money, Leitner said. Hamas has plenty of money, gathered from the Gaza tunnel trade and fraudulent charity groups. Hamas claims it needs money because it wants shekels in cash, she explained.
Defense Minister Ehud Barak has repeatedly given in and allowed Arab banks to transfer cash to Gaza, Leitner said. “Every time the Palestinians in Gaza are crying and yelling for cash, Barak comes through with a truck full of shekels."
